2D Shooters

A very crowded genres to deal here meaning a few tough decisions and a split into two categories. Decent, but albeit little known, titles such as Phoenix Force, Symphony and Roche Fusion had to be shunted to the sides with Wish Project having to make do with an entry into the Extras. Dodonpachi Resurrection is a notable absence, having not got round to a purchase yet, but Crimzon Clover is a great alternative. Sky Force has a great sequel which also could have been Top10.

With vertical shooters getting their own category, side-scrollers and arena/Asteroid-style shooters had to be lumped together. The most notable absence here is probably Dariusburst which still remains too goddam expensive even today. Ether Vapor: Remastered also didn't get a look in and likewise with the interesting Steredenn and Xenoraptor. Beat Hazard, Jets 'N' Guns and Waves all have excellent sequels by the way and I did not include the original Geometry Wars as its sequel has made it obsolete (although you can view its guide in the Extras Section).
