Racing

By definition, sims are supposed to be realistic but these games are totally immersive. All of these can be set up to use with a wheel and if you wish to embrace what the genre has to offer and get the most out of them, then purchasing a decent one is a no-brainer. The line between a sim and simcade is a little blurry but I would say out of the Top 10, all but F1 2019 and Wreckfest are racing sims. All the rest, including the HM section but excluding Project Cars and WRC 7 are simcade. Notable absences here are iRacing and RFactor 2 whose subscription and business models just don't sit too well with me.

Arcade Racing - the category you come to where it's not so much about the driving skills, but just going really really fast. For this, leave the wheel to the sim-racing nerds and grab that controller for the high-speed action. The category, of course, is dominated by Trackmania - the undisputed king of arcade racing with Nations Forever and United Forever having to be retracted to avoid total domination. The Need for Speed franchise may be a little under-represented here with my retail boxed copy of Underground definitely needing to be dusted off and given a spin.
