Tower Defense

For this genre, we're mainly talking the classic variety whereby towers are placed on build squares to fry creeps who wander along a set path. The action tower defense formula involving hero units that get down deep and dirty such as the Orcs Must Die series works well in its way and Sanctum made a valiant effort as did Hero Defense but the good ol' fashioned formula is justification for the age-old adage that if something aint broke - don't fix it. Nevertheless, while Orc Must Die found its way into my Miscellaneous section, Deathtrap, the little known Go Home Dinosaurs and both the Pixeljunk Monsters games, which all do incorporate a hero unit, successfully found their way onto my Top 20 list.
