Match 3

This genre is really quite bizarre: they generally have a child-friendly exterior, they appeal greatly to the female player, they bear more than a passing resemblance to gambling and slot machines, yet include some out-and-out X-rated titles that are blatantly and unapologetically pornographic. These are the types of games that hordes of commuters play on their mobile devices as they commute to work in the morning. They should never be so addictive to play on the PC. Big Fish Games have a veritable treasure trove of these stashed away including The Atlantis, Cursed House, Fishdom, Jewel Match and Laruaville series' and as such I've included 3 of these in my honourable mentions. With various degrees of innovation coming through for this genre it still seems that mixing the RPG element with luck-based gameplay just doesn't quite gel.
